Integrating Urban Last-Mile Package Deliveries into an Agent-Based Travel Demand Model

With the expected increase of e-commerce activity, we can expect share delivery vehicles in cities to rise as well. On one hand, this puts great pressure on and surrounding areas emissions space becomes scarce. other people are adjusting their travel behaviour such that affects not only last-mile but also private passenger traffic. This paper presents an integrated approach modelling deliveries using agent-based demand model. It is intended account for reciprocal effects between online shopping deliveries. The package orders generated by agents study area distributed among centres. For each centre, tour agent created. presented model allows simultaneous simulation trips thus realistic conditions: detect e.g. if or another household member at home receive order. We have applied city Karlsruhe, Germany, describe first results simulation. Application a detailed analysis success rates both terms time space. framework provides insight into transportation system be availed analyse policy measures alternative strategies.
